E-mail marketing checklist

  • If you buy a list, buy an opt-in list from a reputable company.

  • Target people who have said they’re specifically interested in your type of offerings.

  • Make it easy for people to remove themselves from your e-mailing list.

  • Don’t e-mail more often than monthly.

  • Make your e-mails trackable so you can measure response.

  • Add value. Make it worthwhile for people to read your e-mail — for example, by offering
    a discount or special deal.

  • Keep messages simple, straightforward and short.

  • Have all the fulfillment steps covered.

  • Get educated. Many companies specialize in online marketing, advertising and creative services.

  • Set reasonable expectations. View your first e-mail as a learning effort.

  • Don’t put all your marketing eggs in the e-mail basket.
