Many energy experts believe that prices will continue to rise over the next several years. If you agree and want to stabilize your electricity generation costs, now may be the best time to act! Through our program you can lock in current market prices for periods up to 5 years – it's up to you!

What kind of pricing are we talking about? Market prices per kWh (excluding federal and system charges for congestion, capacity, etc.) are currently in the following general areas (as of October 2, 2007).

Actual prices for this program will be based on the final group composition and market prices on the day the contract is executed.

Program Eligibility

  • You must be a CBIA member company.
  • Your total demand for all accounts combined must be at least 50 kW (this translates into an average monthly electricity bill of about $2,500+).
  • Your company’s credit rating needs to be acceptable to the electricity supplier.

How to Get Started

  1. Complete all information contained in the Program Request Form (PDF), including your current desired contract term (this can be changed later in the process) as well as the maximum contract term you will consider.
  2. Complete, sign, and return to us the Customer Historical Usage Information Release Form. (UI customers ONLY)
  3. Complete the Cert 115 document if you qualify for sales tax exemption.
  4. Fax (860-293-1157) or e-mail (bellj@cbia.com) the completed form, along with a copy of your most recent electricity bill(s). Please send all pages of your electricity bill.
  5. After we receive your completed form and bill(s), we will determine if you qualify for size and notify you if you don't.
  6. If you qualify, we will send you a supplier contract to review. (Note: Credit qualification will be conducted by the supplier later in the process based on the maximum contract term you indicated.)
  7. Approximately one to two weeks from the final response date we will provide you updated market prices. At that time, we will ask for your final agreement to participate with the following commitments:
    • The term of contract you desire
    • Your agreement to enter into the supply contract (which you will have previously reviewed) provided the final price for your term is equal to or lower than that of the last indicated market price update we provided.
    • Your written authorization allowing us to sign the supplier contract on your behalf provided the final price meets the requirement set out in the bullet point above.

Final prices will be determined within a few days of CBIA receiving these authorizations. Contracts will be executed for the group the same day these prices are declared, provided they meet your pre-authorized level.
