Where to get help with high energy costs

Your business may be eligible for energy efficiency assistance and incentives through the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund. Financed by a charge on electricity customers’ bills, the fund offers several programs, in conjunction with Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) and the United Illuminating Co. (UI), for qualified small businesses:

  • Express Services: Customers receive rebates after a qualified, licensed contractor has installed certain energy-efficient lighting, motors or heating/cooling equipment to replace less-efficient equipment.

  • Custom Services: CL&P will conduct a detailed study of your electrical and HVAC needs and recommend energy-saving measures. CL&P pays one-half of the study costs upfront and refunds the customer’s 50% share after the equipment has been installed. Cash incentives may also be provided for the installed costs of the equipment.

  • Operation and Maintenance Program: This includes energy studies, operator training and incentives to perform waste-eliminating maintenance procedures.

  • Small Business Energy Advantage: CL&P and UI provide turnkey, energy-
saving products and services. The program includes incentives, no upfront customer costs and a zero-percent financing option for qualified customers.

  • Renewable Resources: UI offers incentives for using renewable energy technologies, such as solar and wind power, that emit no pollutants and do not deplete natural resources.
