New "Manufacture Your Future" Teacher's Guide to Accompany DVD on Manufacturing Careers

CBIA is invested in promoting manufacturing careers in Connecticut schools. With funding from the Connecticut Community College's Regional Center for Next Generation Manufacturing, CBIA created a DVD that highlights five young people working in Connecticut manufacturing: a laser technician, a biomanufacturing supervisor, a CNC programmer, an electrical engineer and an aerospace technician. The DVD also explains where students can learn the skills needed for jobs like these.

Now, teachers have the tools they need to show the DVD. A teacher's guide kit to accompany the DVD was recently distributed to Connecticut high schools and middle schools. The kit includes the DVD: a teacher's guide with discussion points and student activities; a "Made in Connecticut" quiz; an employment outlook and salary information for manufacturing careers; a poster; and a "Next Generation Manufacturing" brochure. Also included is a message to parents explaining that today's manufacturers offer exciting, well-paying career opportunities for their children.

To view both the DVD and the teacher's guide kit, go to www.nextgenmfg.org.
