Connecticut Industry Skills Standards 2000-2005

Here's a great source of information where you can learn about and understand what careers are available in today's business and industry. CBIA's revised Industry Skills Standards book provides the job categories, job titles and entry-level skills that Connecticut employers believe will be in demand over the next five years.

     Each industry cluster section contains:

  • Core academic and employability skills that are common to all Connecticut career clusters and expected of high school graduates.
  • A crosswalk of the core list to SCANS competencies and CAPT competencies
  • Job categories and samples of jobs for each cluster for high school graduates, and those holding 2-year associate's degrees, bachelor's and advanced degrees.
  • Technical skills specific to each cluster at the high school and 2-year-associate degree level.

To obtain a copy of the entire skills booklet, contact Ann Gaulin at the State Department of Education, 860-807-2102.

The booklet is also available as a PDF document. You need Adobe Acrobat to download and print it. We've saved the document in sections so you can download the portions you need. You can also download the entire book by clicking here (91 page PDF file).
