What are internships?

An internship is a school-to-career experience in which a student spends an extended period of time at your company completing a project or a planned series of activities. Ideally, this experience helps students apply what they've learned in the classroom to real workplace tasks and objectives.

Time commitment: 3-18 weeks; hours may vary

Grade level: 11-12

Key considerations

  • Internships may be paid or unpaid, and they may qualify for class credits.
  • Work with school personnel to develop a planned program that connects academics with workplace objectives, gives students an overview of the industry, is progessively more complex, and requires students to analyze and solve problems.
