Connecticut's economy needs a highly skilled workforce -- people who can help businesses compete in a knowledge-based, technological and global economy.
Our young people need the skills to succeed in higher education or in the workforce.
This year in the legislature: Some progress was made this year on the critical need to improve education in order to prepare a workforce able to compete in the 21st-century economy. Lawmakers approved a proposal that will make it easier for mid-career professionals to become public school teachers and bring their real-world experience into classrooms.
