A healthy economy moves people, products and services easily and cost-effectively. Connecticut, however , has serious transportation challenges. We need a strategic state vision and fiscal plan to modernize our systems in a way that will ensure safety and future economic prosperity.

This year in the legislature:

Compared with prior sessions, it was a quiet year for transportation issues. A bill to micromanage several aspects of the DOT was vetoed by Gov. Rell but lawmakers overrode the veto. CBIA supported a proposal to improve the organization and authority of the Bradley International Airport board of directors, and to establish a Bradley economic development zone in portions of three towns. While it did not pass, CBIA hopes leadership will move the proposal forward next year. Also, the state's Transportation Strategy Board postponed making anticipated recommendations to the General
Assembly on reviving highway tolls.
