Opportunity for businesses:
Transportation rally and hearing set for Wednesday, March 8

(March 7, 2006) Businesspeople from across the state of Connecticut have identified the transportation infrastructure as one of the factors contributing to our sluggish economy. Now they have an opportunity to communicate directly with legislators about the need for transportation improvements at a rally to be held on the state Capitol steps on Wednesday, March 8, beginning at 11 a.m.

CBIA encourages its members who care about the transportation issue to attend the rally.

Speaker of the House James Amann (D-Milford) has called for legislation adopting the entire transportation improvement plan as developed by the Transportation Strategy Board (TSB). The entire plan will cost about $6.2 billion over the next 10 to 20 years.

It’s important that business leaders continue to show support for an aggressive plan to rebuild our infrastructure.

Following the rally, the Transportation Committee will hold a public hearing in the Legislative Office Building, Room 2E, at noon.  The topic for the public hearing will be House Bill 5715, An Act Concerning Statewide Transportation Improvements. To read the proposal, click here.
