DEP moving forward with many business-related measures

(Oct. 16, 2007) The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is in the midst of developing and adopting new standards that will affect a wide variety of Connecticut businesses.

Currently in various stages of development are regulations that will affect environmental cleanup standards, the recycling of certain electronic devices, spill reporting, management of contaminated sediments, water withdrawals from rivers and streams, and air emission standards for oil-fueled boilers.

In addition, the DEP is developing new requirements for stormwater management that will be incorporated into revised stormwater general permits for industrial, commercial and construction activities.  These permits are expected to be revised within the next 12 months.

CBIA is involved in all of these regulatory activities through its Environmental Policies Council (EPC).  To learn more about any of these issues or the EPC, contact Eric Brown at 860-244-1926 or browne@cbia.com.
