The Safety & Health Roundtable is a fast-paced and informative series of five programs designed to give you up-to-the-minute information on safety issues and regulations. This unique series also provides a great opportunity for you to network with other safety and health professionals.

The format of each program — which includes regulatory updates, presentations and a discussion with safety experts on frequently asked questions — will give you a chance to ask questions that pertain to your job and what issues are affecting your peers.

All of the sessions will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cromwell.

Sessions:

  • Thursday, April 10: Making sure your emergency action plan complies and works. Patricia Cushman, CSP, principal engineer/consultant, and Mark Haskins, principal consultant, Practical Safety Solutions LLC.
    • Several Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards as well as key environmental mandates explicitly require employers to have emergency action plans for their workplaces. The details of your plan will vary based on potential hazards associated with your particular company’s operations or industry. However, all businesses are vulnerable to significant hazards, not only from within but also from weather-related events and incidents occurring at neighboring businesses, streets or elsewhere outside their facilities. Having a comprehensive emergency action plan will help you manage these events. We will review the required and recommended elements of an emergency action plan and discuss how to implement your plan.  Bring your emergency plan questions to this important session.

  • Thursday, May 22: Managing outside contractors and workplace safety compliance issues.
  • Thursday, June 12: Working with your occupational medicine provider: first aid, emergency care, return to work and rehabilitation.

Cost per person:
