Creditable Coverage Update

We were recently advised that ConnectiCare’s HSA-Compatible $2500 POS plan is Non-Creditable according to CMS and Medicare Part D guidelines.

A letter will be mailed to your HC2 clients who have employees enrolled in the ConnectiCare HSA-Compatible plan.

In addition, we have revised the HC2 Non-Creditable Coverage Notice as well as the Table of Creditable and Non-creditable Plans by carrier/plan on our Web site.

Health Connections Creditable Coverage Status (as of 1/3/07)

  • All Health Connections (HC) plans are creditable.
  • All Health Connections 2 (HC2) plans are creditable EXCEPT:
    • CIGNA HSA-Compatible $1500 PPO
    • ConnectiCare HSA-Compatible $2500 POS
    • Oxford HSA-Compatible $2000 PPO
  • All CBIA/Aetna plans are creditable.

REMINDER: Information Regarding CIGNA Vision Care

The following clarifies how the vision benefit is administered for all CIGNA plans offered through the CBIA Health Connections program.

CIGNA contracts with a specialty provider network – Vision Services Plan (VSP) – for routine and primary care. It is important for members to understand when the use of a VSP provider is required so that claims can be properly paid. The “VSP” designation appears next to the doctor’s name in CIGNA’s provider directory.

  1. Routine eye care must be obtained through a VSP provider (either an optometrist or ophthalmologist).

  2. Primary eye care (glaucoma, pink eye, etc.) must be obtained through a VSP provider or a participating CIGNA ophthalmologist.

  3. All other medical care related to vision must be obtained through a participating CIGNA ophthalmologist.

Members should refer to www.vsp.com/cigna or contact VSP directly at 1-800-877-7195.  Members can access participating CIGNA providers through www.cigna.com.

CLARIFICATION: CIGNA Coverage for Massachusetts Residents

CIGNA is available to employees residing in select towns in Massachusetts, however members must access CIGNA’s Connecticut provider network. Residents of Massachusetts may not elect a PCP in Massachusetts.
