The deadline for small businesses to apply for a Connecticut STEP grant is Aug. 15, 2016.
The State Trade and Export Program grant initiative, launched under the Small Business Jobs Act of 2010, is a pilot grant program authorizing up to $90 million in grants to the states and U.S. territories over three years to help increase the number of small businesses that export and increase the value of exports for small businesses that are currently exporting.
STEP services are managed and provided at the local level by state government organizations.
The program is managed at the national level by the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of International Trade.
At the state level, the program has total Federal funding of $60,000,000, for use over a two-year period.
Connecticut’s STEP 2015–2016 Grant Program, with funding totaling $466,667, is administered by the state Department of Economic and Community Development.
For more information, email the DECD’s STEP project director Laura Jaworski or grant administrator Aaron Knight. Both can be reached at 860.270.8059.
