CBIA'S BUSINESS MEETS POLITICS
General Assembly candidates visit Connecticut businesses to meet
with employers and employees

Dozens of state Senate and House candidates will participate in the Connecticut Business & Industry Association's (CBIA's) “Business Meets Politics” events, October 20-30, 2008.

The candidates will visit more than 25 businesses across the state and participate in numerous events hosted by CBIA and its member companies.

"With the crisis in the financial markets further destabilizing the economy, and the state budget deficit rising, legislators will be called upon to make the tough financial decisions necessary to ensure the health and vitality of Connecticut's economy and the quality of life for its residents,” said John R. Rathgeber, CBIA president and CEO.

“These visits will give Connecticut employees the opportunity to meet and speak with legislative candidates during their work day and at their workplace. It allows working people to get directly involved and learn about the candidates' positions on issues that are important to employees, their companies and the state's economy. It also gives the candidates the opportunity to hear directly from our workers and businesses so that they can understand the issues and take actions to help strengthen our economy and keep our state competitive and our residents employed.”

The following is a list of scheduled “Business Meets Politics” events. Reporters interested in attending must call Nancy Andrews, CBIA's media relations manager, at 860-244-195, in advance for clearance.
