CBIA TO EXPLAIN NEW BUSINESS TAX LAWS TO CONNECTICUT EMPLOYERS

Keeping up with the complex changes in Connecticut 's business tax laws can be a challenge. Connecticut employers will learn about recent changes at CBIA's Connecticut Business Tax Conference, on Thursday, Feb. 7, at the Farmington Marriott.
The keynote speaker, Rep. Cameron C. Staples, co-chair of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee of the Connecticut General Assembly will discuss the property tax cap commission and goals for the 2008 legislative session.
John Biello, with the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services, and tax experts from Shipman & Goodwin LLP will review issues and procedures associated with a Connecticut employment tax audit, including employee/independent contractor status; audit documentation, defenses and safeguards; and related Department of Labor and pension issues.
Breakout sessions will focus on:

Sales and use tax issues facing the service, manufacturing and construction industries

The corporate income tax and other issues for corporate entities

Connecticut and multistate taxation
