THE MOVE TO GREEN BUSINESS PRACTICES
How businesses are embracing sustainability to increase efficiency and savings

 

Connecticut businesses must continue to find innovative ways to be efficient, competitive and effective and many are embracing sustainability as a strategy.

The Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) has gathered some of the top experts in the field to review trends in green business practices and how they can help companies prosper. They will present those findings at

Connecticut's Corporate Sustainability Conference
Tuesday, June 17, 2008
8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Crowne Plaza, Cromwell

The keynote speaker is Andy Savitz, noted commentator and blogger on corporate sustainability, senior consultant at Sustainable Business Strategies in Boston, and author of the widely acclaimed book The Triple Bottom Line: How the Best-Run Companies are Achieving Economic, Social and Environmental Success — and How You Can Too. He will discuss strategy development, risk evaluation, the design and implementation of sustainability programs, and measurement and reporting.

A panel of noted environmental experts will discuss:

•  Greening your supply chain, workforce and other business operations

•  Environmental programs

•  Environmental law and regulatory issues

 

CBIA will also release results of its second annual “Sustainability and Connecticut Business Survey,” a snapshot of Connecticut companies' involvement in environmental and social initiatives.

The conference, sponsored by CBIA, United Illuminating, Pitney Bowes and Pullman & Comley LLC, is $30 for members and $40 for nonmembers.

CBIA is the state's largest business organization, with 10,000 members.
