HOW TO MANAGE A MULTIGENERATIONAL WORKPLACE
CBIA program helps businesses understand and adapt to demographic shifts
Thursday, July 24, 2008
8:30 a.m. - noon
Crowne Plaza Hotel
Cromwell, Conn.
Today's workplace includes four distinct generations of employees working side by side. Millennials, Generation X, Baby Boomers, and Traditionals often share roles and responsibilities but may differ in their work styles and values systems. The two youngest groups, Generation X and Millennials, now make up a majority of the workforce. To remain competitive, businesses must understand, and in some cases, adapt to these new employees.
The Connecticut Business & Industry Association's Multigenerational Workplace conference will provide a framework for understanding the various workforce generations, what motivates and challenges them, what tools and techniques will bring out the best in employees at different life stages, and how to adjust management styles for each group.
Topics include:
Employee engagement
The triangle of motivation
Identifying primary motivators of direct reports and developing motivational plans for them
Recognition and its effect on motivation
Tips on managing each generation
The program will examine case studies, allowing participants to solve challenging supervisory dilemmas and move from theory to practice.
The cost of the conference is $99 for CBIA members and $199 for nonmembers.
CBIA is Connecticut's largest business organization, with more than 10,000 members.
