NORTHWEST CONNECTICUT REGION BUSINESS OUTLOOK CONFERENCE
Economic pressures and challenges facing Litchfield County businesses
CBIA will release its 2008 Survey of Northwest Connecticut Businesses
Tues., Sept. 23, 2008
8:30 – 11 a.m.
UConn, Torrington
Businesses in Connecticut 's northwest corner are facing many of the same challenges as their counterparts throughout the state. But there are also issues unique to this region of rustic inns and rolling hills that are important to maintaining its quality of life and vibrant business community.
The keynote speaker for the conference is Joan McDonald, commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development. She will discuss the issues facing the northwest corner — as well as the entire state — including transportation and energy.
The event will also feature a panel discussion on the economy, workforce and labor issues, energy, and the region's transportation infrastructure.
The results of the CBIA 2008 Survey of Northwest Connecticut Businesses will be released, and copies will be available for all conference attendees. This first-ever survey identifies trends and issues facing northwest Connecticut businesses and can help state policymakers identify ways to improve the region's economic climate.
The conference is sponsored by CBIA and the Chamber of Commerce of Northwest Connecticut.
Admission to the conference is free.
