THE FEDERAL STIMULUS PACKAGE:  WHAT IT MEANS FOR CONNECTICUT BUSINESSES

Connecticut is expected to receive approximately $3 billion from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. But how will the money be spent, and what does it mean for Connecticut’s economy and businesses? 

The Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) has arranged a special half-day conference to examine the federal stimulus package and its impact on Connecticut businesses.

CBIA, federal and state officials, and the law firms of Shipman & Goodwin LLP and Robinson & Cole LLP, will explain how Connecticut companies can benefit from federal stimulus funds. The program will examine:

  • The types of projects that will be funded
  • How the funds will be allocated and by whom
  • The meaning of shovel ready
  • Competitive bidding and other legal requirements
  • Expanded small business lending programs
  • Special tax breaks for small businesses, including faster write-offs, credits for renewable energy production, delayed recognition of cancelled debt, and longer loss write-off periods
