CBIA TO EXPLAIN NEW BUSINESS TAX LAWS TO CONNECTICUT EMPLOYERS

Thursday, May 14, 2009

8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The Rocky Hill Marriott

Keeping up with the complex changes in Connecticut’s business tax laws can be a challenge. Connecticut employers will learn about recent changes and how new legislative tax proposals will affect their companies, at the Connecticut Business & Industry Association’s (CBIA) Connecticut Business Tax Conference, on Thursday, May 14, at the Rocky Hill Marriott.

Speakers include experts from the Department of Revenue Services (DRS), the Department of Labor (DOL) and attorneys who represent and advise businesses on tax issues. John Biello, with DRS, Carl Guzzardi, with the DOL, and tax experts from Shipman & Goodwin LLP will review issues and procedures associated with a Connecticut employment tax audit, including how to improve compliance and minimize potential employment tax liability.

Breakout sessions will focus on:

  • Sales and use tax issues facing the service, manufacturing and construction industries
  • The corporate income tax and other issues for corporate entities
  • Connecticut and multistate taxation
  • How to navigate a sales and use tax audit and the top 10 mistakes taxpayers make

All attendees receive the comprehensive guide Connecticut Taxes on Business and Industry.

The cost for the conference, which includes lunch, is $175 for CBIA member companies and $225 for nonmember companies. To register, call 860-244-1977 or e-mail registrar@cbia.com.

CBIA is Connecticut’s largest business organization, with 10,000 members.
