CBIA PROMOTES WEST HARTFORD RESIDENT TO HEAD ITS EDUCATION FOUNDATION
The Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA), the state’s largest business organization, today announced the promotion of Judith K. Resnick to head the Association’s Education Foundation. Resnick replaces Lauren Weisberg Kaufman, who is retiring after 26 years as the executive director of the Education Foundation.
In addition to her new role, Resnick will continue as director of workforce development and job training. She has been with CBIA for over 10 years. During that time she has played a key role in overseeing workforce development programs designed to help the state’s businesses become more competitive.
“Judy has a vast amount of experience and knowledge and has made great contributions to CBIA and the Education Foundation,” said Joseph F. Brennan, CBIA senior vice president of public policy. “I am confident that in her new executive position Judy will continue to work closely with our members and the education community to ensure that we are meeting the workforce, training and development needs that enable Connecticut’s businesses to compete in an increasingly technological, global economy.”
Resnick was hired in 1999 as director of workplace development and training, and in 2002 was named deputy director of the CBIA Education Foundation. Prior to joining CBIA, she was the director of strategic planning and workforce development at the Connecticut Department of Administrative Services. She founded the Business & Industry Services Network for the Connecticut Community College System and served as its state director for 12 years. She also served as the director of marketing for America Works of Connecticut.
She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from the University of Michigan, a Master of Science in higher education from Indiana University and a certificate from Harvard University, Institute for the Management of Lifelong Education. Resnick is also a graduate of Leadership Greater Hartford, class of 1989.
She lives in West Hartford with her husband, Frank. They have two adult sons.
For 25 years, CBIA’s Education Foundation, a nonprofit affiliate of CBIA, has been a leader in the development of model programs to improve education outcomes for Connecticut’s students. The Education Foundation creates public-private partnerships and administers programs, including Project Opening Doors, a public-private partnership that seeks to increase Connecticut students' participation and achievement in Advanced Placement courses and better ensure their success in college; the Academy of Engineering and Green Technology at Hartford Public High School, combining academic and vocational instruction with programmatic and curriculum guidance from representatives in business, industry, and higher education; and Vanguard Schools, an initiative to improve education by recognizing schools in which student performance is high despite challenges that can often hinder student achievement, and sharing those best practices and proven strategies with other schools.
CBIA is Connecticut’s largest business organization, with 10,000 member companies.
