Jesmin K. Basanti is a staff attorney for the Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA), the state's largest business organization with over 10,000 members. CBIA works to promote a healthy business climate, which encourages economic growth and job creation in the state.

Basanti is a member of the association's government affairs team, representing the business community's views before the state legislature and administrative agencies. Her areas of expertise include education, housing and commerce issues, as well as economic development.

Prior to joining CBIA, Basanti worked at several Connecticut and Massachusetts area law firms. She earned her J.D. degree from Western New England College School of Law in Springfield, Mass., and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.

Basanti is a member of the American Bar Association, the Connecticut Bar Association and the Connecticut South Asian Bar Association. She lives in Hartford.
