March 3, 2003 GOV. ROWLAND, LEGISLATIVE LEADERS TO TALK BUDGET AT CONNECTICUT BUSINESS DAY 2003 HARTFORD, Conn. - All eyes will be on the state budget and its impact on Connecticut's economy when business and government leaders gather for Connecticut Business Day, scheduled for Wednesday, March 12, from 7:45 a.m. to noon at the Legislative Office Building. The program will feature remarks by Gov. John G. Rowland, Senate President Pro Tem Kevin B. Sullivan (D-West Hartford) and Speaker of the House Moira K. Lyons (D-Stamford). Roger Joyce, vice president, The Bilco Company of West Haven, will make a speech entitled "High Stakes in 2003: Why Business Leaders Must Be Involved in the Legislative Process." All members of the state legislature have been invited to attend Connecticut Business Day. Business people will meet with legislators starting at 11 a.m. "Connecticut Business Day is an opportunity for business people from across the state to discuss the challenges they face, not only with the slow economy but in meeting increasingly difficult worldwide competition. If we want to prosper as a state and increase job opportunities for our citizens, we must meet these challenges," said Kenneth O. Decko, president and CEO, CBIA. Connecticut Business Day is co-sponsored by the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA) and the Connecticut Association of Chambers of Commerce Executives (CACCE), a statewide organization of 55 leading chamber executives.
