February 3, 2003 CBIA CONFERENCE TO EXPLAIN CHANGES IN STATE SALES AND USE TAX LAWS Changes made in the state sales and use tax and their impacts on businesses will be discussed at the Connecticut Business & Industry Association Connecticut Sales and Use Tax Conference. The day-long program will be held at the Farmington Marriott on Wednesday, Feb. 19. The conference will include breakout sessions on general sales and use tax compliance, preparing for and managing a sales and use tax audit, sales taxes for the manufacturing industry, sales taxes on construction and renovation, advanced sales and use tax and clarifying computer, data processing and business consulting services. Gene Gavin, commissioner, Connecticut Department of Revenue Services, will make opening remarks. Fred Carstensen, director, Connecticut Center for Economic Analysis, University of Connecticut, will speak at lunch. Capping the day will be a legislative update presented by Joseph F. Brennan, vice president, Government Affairs, and Robert Earley, staff attorney, of CBIA. "There have been many changes made to Connecticut tax laws, so each year CBIA offers businesses this opportunity to learn how those sales and use tax changes will affect their businesses," Brennan said.
