C. COWLES & COMPANY PRESIDENT AND OWNER ELECTED TO CBIA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Moon is president and owner of C. Cowles & Company, a diversified manufacturing business in New Haven. He is one of 16 new members elected to the CBIA board who will begin their terms Dec. 1. CBIA is the state’s largest business organization, with 10,000 member companies throughout Connecticut. The board of directors approves the organization’s plans, policies and strategies, and particularly focuses on ways to make Connecticut a better place to do business and create jobs. C. Cowles & Company was founded in 1838 and is one of Connecticut’s oldest companies. Moon acquired the company, which manufactures automotive stampings, precision plastic components, automotive aftermarket trim products, boiler controls and water feeders and lighting fixtures, in 1992. Prior to the acquisition, Moon was a principle of McTeague and Company, a middle-market investment banking firm. In the late ‘70s and ‘80s, Moon was a vice president of the Veeder Root Company, a division of the Danaher Corporation. As the senior manager of the petroleum products group, he brought new products to market and significantly increased revenues and profits. Moon also worked in the sales, marketing and systems development area of the computer industry He has served on several nonprofit boards, including the New Haven Manufacturers Association. He was also on the board of McTeague and Company and was a member of the American Petroleum Institutes Peer Review Committees. He graduated with a liberal arts degree from the University of Buffalo. He lives in Madison with his wife, and has three daughters.
