PRATT & WHITNEY SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT ELECTED TO CBIA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Moore is senior vice president of Module Centers and Operations at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford. He is one of 16 new members elected to the CBIA board who will begin their terms Dec. 1. CBIA is the state’s largest business organization, with 10,000 member companies throughout Connecticut. The board of directors approves the organization’s plans, policies and strategies, and particularly focuses on ways to make Connecticut a better place to do business and create jobs. Moore was named senior vice president, Module Centers and Operations, in May 2002. He is responsible for Pratt & Whitney’s global manufacturing operations, which build jet engines and spare parts for major airlines and military customers around the world. Moore is using a comprehensive quality system known as ACE (Achieving Competitive Excellence) to bring continuous improvements to Pratt’s products and processes. Moore joined Pratt & Whitney after 10 years at Cummins Engine Company, where his most recent position was vice president, operations excellence. Prior to that, he was vice president and general manager Light Duty Engine Business at Cummins and held several operations positions within automotive at Ford Motor Company and General Motors Corporation. During his 30 years in the automotive industry, Moore earned a reputation for leading manufacturing operations through turnaround and growth, to experience dramatic increases in revenue and profit. He is known for his close working relationships with engineering and product development, for reducing lead times and inventory, and for his commitment to creating a quality culture. Moore earned his B.S. degree in business administration/industrial technology from Washington University in St. Louis in 1972 and a master’s degree in management from Webster University, also in St. Louis, in 1976. Moore has been an advisory board member on both the University of Michigan's Tauber Engineering and Management Institute and Northwestern University's Masters of Manufacturing Management (3M) Program, a joint program between the Kellogg Graduate School of Management and McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science. He is also a member of the Association for Manufacturing Excellence. He lives in West Hartford. ###
