CONNECTICUT STATE SCHOLARS SUMMER ACADEMY Friday, August 6, 2004 Sixty-four New Haven students will be honored at a graduation ceremony and luncheon on Friday, Aug. 6, at 11:30 a.m., at Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven. The students are graduating from the Connecticut State Scholars Summer Academy program, administered by the Connecticut Business & Industry Association. They have spent the summer studying algebra and biology as part of the Connecticut State Scholars Program, which challenges all high school students to take tougher classes that will prepare them for success in college, in future careers and throughout their lives. The Connecticut State Scholars program is open to students in the New Haven and Danbury Public Schools, and is designed especially for the majority of students in the middle who are not working up to their potential. In New Haven, it is currently being piloted at Wilbur Cross High School and The Metropolitan Business Academy. The initiative is a partnership between the business community and the public school system. Media wishing to attend the event should contact Nancy Andrews, CBIA media relations manager, at 860-244-1957 or andrewsn@cbia.com. 350 Church
