CBIA OPPOSES RESTRICTIONS ON PRIVATIZATION OF STATE SERVICES Would hurt state’s ability to provide the best services in the most efficient manner The Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) opposes restrictions on privatization contained in a state contracting proposal that could be considered by lawmakers as early as Wednesday. The plan would eliminate the state’s ability to procure the most effective and efficient services for the residents of Connecticut. “In contracting for services, the state needs the flexibility to produce and acquire the best services at the best prices for the citizens of Connecticut,” said Joseph F. Brennan, CBIA senior vice president of public policy. "Privatization of services, under the right circumstances, should be one of the options available to ensure efficiency and to protect taxpayers." CBIA urges lawmakers to reject any measure that reduces the state’s ability to provide quality and affordable services. ### CBIA is the state’s largest business organization, with 10,000 member companies.
