Economic Experts and Top Industry Leaders Discuss Economic Trends and
How They Will Affect Connecticut Businesses

Economic experts and leading business executives will discuss economic and political trends unfolding regionally and nationally - and how those trends will affect businesses - at the annual Economic Summit & Outlook presented by the Connecticut Business & Industry Association and the MetroHartford Alliance.

Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005
Radisson Hotel and Conference Center, Cromwell
8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

The keynote speakers are:

  • W. Allen Schaffer, senior vice president and chief clinical officer, CIGNA;
  • Cathy Minehan, president and CEO, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston; and
  • Mark Kachur, chairman, president and CEO, CUNO Inc., Meriden.

Jim Vicevich, WTIC 1080 talk show host, will moderate a panel discussing state, regional and national economic outlooks for the coming months. Panelists are:

  • Rae Rosen, senior economist and assistant vice president, Federal Reserve Bank of New York;
  • Delos Smith, senior business analyst, The Conference Board; and
  • Nick Perna, economic adviser, Webster Financial Corp.

Tom Monahan, chief political reporter at NBC 30 will moderate a panel that includes legislative leaders; John Rathgeber, CBIA executive vice president and COO; and Oz Griebel, president and CEO of MetroHartford Alliance. They will examine business issues that will be addressed in the upcoming session of the state legislature.

Executives from various sectors of the economy will head panel discussions on a variety of topics, including:

  • outlooks for the finance, insurance and real estate industries;
  • new economic development in the region;
  • health care costs; and
  • regional workforce issues.
