THE FAIRFIELD COUNTY ECONOMY
THE YEAR AHEAD


Fairfield County is a bustling region, rich in all kinds of industries. But what’s in store for its economy in the coming year? How does this county’s economy affect the rest of Connecticut and the region?

The Connecticut Business & Industry Association has gathered top business leaders to examine these issues and discuss the strengths and challenges of the Fairfield County economy and where it’s heading in the next year at The Fairfield County Economy: The Year Ahead.

Speakers include:

  • Paul Fonteyne, senior vice president ,marketing and sales, Boehringer-Ingelheim
  • Jeff Singer, regional vice president, corporate client group, The NASDAQ stock Market Inc.
  • Michael Ego, associate vice provost, University of Connecticut, Stamford campus
  • Joel Szabot, deputy assistant secretary to Secretary Norman Y. Mineta, U.S. Department of Transportation

Topics include transportation, the stock market, education and the pharmaceutical industry. A special session will be held to discuss the results of the 2005 Fairfield County Business Survey. The conference will also feature a panel of top economists:

  • Todd Martin, president, Todd P. Martin Economic Services, and economic adviser to People’s Bank
  • Ken Goldstein, economist, The Conference Board
  • Jan Friederich, senior editor/economist, Economist Intelligence Unit, The Economist
  • Rae Rosen, senior economist and assistant vice president, Federal Reserve Bank of New York

The program will conclude with a reception sponsored by Cumberland Harbour.

The event is sponsored by CBIA, People’s Bank, Blum Shapiro, the Fairfield County Business Journal, News 12 Connecticut, and WICC 600, in partnership with the Stamford, Greenwich, Fairfield, Greater Norwalk and Greater Danbury Chambers of Commerce and the Bridgeport Regional Business Council.
