WACHOVIA BANK REGIONAL PRESIDENT ELECTED TO CBIA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) elected James E. Fitzgerald Jr., to a four-year term on its board of directors at its Oct. 26 Annual Meeting. Fitzgerald is the North Atlantic regional president of Wachovia Bank N.A., with offices in New York City and White Plains, N.Y. He is one of 13 new members elected to the CBIA board who will begin their terms Dec. 1. CBIA is the state’s largest business organization, with 10,000 member companies throughout Connecticut. The board of directors approves the organization’s plans, policies and strategies, and particularly focuses on ways to make Connecticut a better place to do business and create jobs. Fitzgerald joined Wachovia in 1994 and was named regional president in 2000. He is responsible for retail, small business, commercial and community activities in New York and Connecticut. He also oversees all commercial banking activities in the New England area. Prior to joining Wachovia, he spent 18 years at Chemical and Manufacturers Hanover Trust. Fitzgerald is on the board of directors of the Business Council of Fairfield County, Ronald McDonald House of New York City, World Affairs Forum, New Jersey Performing Arts Center and Redemptoris Mater Seminary. He is a board member of the Metropolitan Museum of Art Business Committee and a partner with the Partnership for New York City. He has a B.A. in history from Georgetown University and an M.B.A. from Loyola College. Fitzgerald lives with his family in Bronxville, New York. ###
