HUBBARD-HALL PRESIDENT AND CEO ELECTED TO CBIA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) elected Andrew K. Skipp to a four-year term on its board of directors at its Oct. 26 Annual Meeting. Skipp is president and CEO of Hubbard-Hall Inc., in Waterbury, one of the oldest independent chemical distributors in the United States. He is one of 13 new members elected to the CBIA board who will begin their terms Dec. 1. CBIA is the state’s largest business organization, with 10,000 member companies throughout Connecticut. The board of directors approves the organization’s plans, policies and strategies, and particularly focuses on ways to make Connecticut a better place to do business and create jobs. Skipp spent his entire business career at Hubbard-Hall and was named president and CEO in 1999. He is a sixth-generation family member to run the business, which was founded in 1849 as Apothecaries Hall. He serves on a number of boards, including the National Association of Chemical Distributors and the Connecticut Association of Metal Finishers, where he was also past president. He is a member of the board of trustees at Waterbury Hospital, chairman of the Waterbury Hospital Finance Review Committee, a member of the Torrington Supply Company Advisory Board and last year’s campaign chairman of the United Way of Greater Waterbury. Skipp earned a B.A. in English from Hobart College in Geneva, N.Y. He lives in Middlebury with his wife and two children. ###
