CBIA/METROHARTFORD ALLIANCE ECONOMIC SUMMIT & OUTLOOK 2006
How Economic Trends Will Affect Connecticut Businesses

Economic experts and leading business executives will discuss economic and political trends unfolding regionally and nationally - and how those trends will affect Connecticut businesses - at the annual Economic Summit & Outlook presented by the Connecticut Business & Industry Association and the MetroHartford Alliance.

 The keynote speakers are:

  • John Kim, president, Prudential Retirement, Prudential Financial;
  • Lawrence R. Gottesdiener, chairman and CEO, Northland Investment Corp.; and
  • Roger Joyce, vice president of engineering, The Bilco Co.

A panel of economic experts will discuss state, regional and national economic outlooks for the coming months.

  • Rae Rosen, senior economist and assistant vice president, Federal Reserve Bank of New York;
  • Nick Perna, economic adviser to Webster Financial Corp.; and
  • Delos Smith, principal, Delos Smith & Associates.

A panel that includes legislative leaders will examine business issues that will be addressed in the upcoming session of the state legislature. Panelists include Senate President Pro Tem Don Williams (D); Speaker of the House Jim Amann (D); Senate Minority Leader Lou DeLuca (R); House Minority Leader Bob Ward (R); Oz Griebel, president and CEO of MetroHartford Alliance; and John Rathgeber, CBIA president and CEO.

Executives from various sectors of the economy will head panel discussions on a variety of topics, including:

  • Outlooks for the finance, insurance and real estate industries;
  • Health care costs: Issues for businesses;
  • Regional workforce issues; and
  • Transportation and economic development.

CBIA is Connecticut’s largest business organization, with 10,000 members.

MetroHartford Alliance is the region’s chamber of commerce and economic development leader.
