For Immediate Release TWO NEW ATTORNEYS JOIN CBIA’S GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS TEAM
The Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) hired two new attorneys, Kia D. Floyd and Kevin R. Hennessy, for the association’s government affairs team. CBIA, the state’s largest business organization with over 10,000 members, works to promote a healthy business climate, which encourages economic growth and job creation in the state. “We are pleased to welcome both Kia and Kevin to CBIA,” said John R. Rathgeber, CBIA president and CEO. “They will be tremendous assets to the government affairs team in the association’s efforts to promote a state business climate that is globally competitive and encourages business expansion and job growth in Connecticut.” Floyd, an assistant counsel, and Hennessy, a staff attorney, will represent business views before the state legislature and administrative agencies. Hennessy will primarily focus on education and business liability issues, as well as corporate governance and economic development. Floyd will handle workers’ compensation and other labor and employment issues facing the business community. Floyd moved to Connecticut from Pennsylvania, where she was deputy secretary of external affairs for the Mayor of Philadelphia. She also worked for the City of Philadelphia Law Department as an assistant city solicitor in both the tax, and health and human services divisions. She received her J.D. degree from the Villanova University School of Law in Villanova, Penn., and has a B.A. degree in government from the University of Virginia. Floyd is a member of the Connecticut and Pennsylvania Bar Associations, and is a certified arbitrator in the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas. She lives in West Haven. Prior to joining CBIA, Hennessy worked at several Connecticut and New York area law firms. He earned his J.D. degree from Western New England College School of Law in Springfield, Mass., and a B.A. degree in political science from Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass. Hennessy is a member of the American Bar Association and the Connecticut Bar Association. He lives in West Hartford with his wife, Elizabeth. ###
