CBIA/METROHARTFORD ALLIANCE ECONOMIC SUMMIT & OUTLOOK 2007
Will the New Year be a good one for Connecticut’s economy and businesses?

 

What will the future be for Connecticut’s economy? Top business leaders and economic experts will discuss economic and political trends, and how those trends will affect Connecticut businesses and the economy in 2007, at the annual Economic Summit & Outlook presented by the Connecticut Business & Industry Association and the MetroHartford Alliance.

 The keynote speakers are:

  • Cathy E. Minehan, president and CEO, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston

  • Philip C. Haan, executive vice president, International, Alliances and Information Technology and chairman, Northwest Cargo, Northwest Airlines Inc.

  • R. Michael Goman, president and CEO, Konover Development Corp.

A panel that includes legislative leaders will examine business issues that will be addressed in this year’s legislative session of the state legislature. The panelists are:

  • House Speaker Jim Amann (D)

  • House Minority Leader Larry Cafero (R)

  • Senate Majority Leader Martin Looney (D)

  • Senate Republican Leader Lou DeLuca (R)

  • Oz Griebel, president and CEO of MetroHartford Alliance

  • John Rathgeber, CBIA president and CEO

Economic experts will discuss state, regional and national economic outlooks for the year. The economists are:

  • Rae Rosen, senior economist and assistant vice president, Federal Reserve Bank of New York

  • Nick Perna, economic adviser to Webster Financial Corp.

  • Delos Smith, principal, Delos Smith & Associates

Executives from various sectors of the economy will head panel discussions on a variety of topics, including:

  • Outlooks for the finance, insurance and real estate industries

  • Health care costs: Issues for businesses

  • International trade

The conference is sponsored by Webster Bank in cooperation with CBIA, the MetroHartford Alliance and the East of the River Chambers of Commerce Association (ERCCA).

MetroHartford Alliance is the region’s chamber of commerce and economic development leader.

ERCCA consists of six chambers of commerce, East Hartford, Glastonbury, Greater Manchester, North Central Connecticut, South Windsor and Tolland, representing more than 3000 businesses throughout the region .
