SONALYSTS CHAIRMAN AND CFO ELECTED TO CBIA BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) elected Lawrence F. Clark to a four-year term on its board of directors at its Oct. 25 Annual Meeting.

Clark is chairman of the board and CFO of Sonalysts Inc., in Waterford. He is one of 14 new members elected to the CBIA board, who will begin their terms Dec. 1.

CBIA is the state’s largest business organization, with 10,000 member companies throughout Connecticut. The board of directors approves the organization’s plans, policies and strategies, and particularly focuses on ways to make Connecticut a better place to do business and create jobs.

Sonalysts is a high technology consulting firm with nearly 500 employees and offices in ten states. The firm is entirely owned by its employees through an employee stock ownership plan.

Clark began his career with Sonalysts in 1981 as a principal analyst performing modeling and simulation studies of advanced submarine combat systems under contracts with the Naval Underwater Warfare Center. In 1984 he joined the law firm of Cravath Swaine and Moore in New York City, where he was an associate in the corporate department.

He rejoined Sonalysts as CFO in 1988, and in 2001 assumed additional duties as chairman of the board.

He graduated with distinction from the U.S. Naval Academy with a B.S. in mathematics. His choice of duty was the submarine force, in which he served on three ships during 10 years of active duty. He also qualified as engineer officer and executive officer in nuclear submarines.

Clark earned an M.B.A. with distinction from Cornell University, under the Navy’s Burke Scholar program. Following his release from active duty, Clark remained in the Naval Reserve for 15 more years, retiring as a captain after command of three intelligence units.

He received his juris doctor degree from Yale University. He is a member of the Connecticut and New York bar associations.

Clark lives in East Lyme with his wife and two children.
