SYSCO FOOD SERVICES PRESIDENT AND CEO ELECTED TO CBIA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
McMakin is president and CEO of SYSCO Food Services of Connecticut, which is headquartered in Rocky Hill. He is one of 14 new members elected to the CBIA board, who will begin their terms Dec. 1. CBIA is the state’s largest business organization, with 10,000 member companies throughout Connecticut. The board of directors approves the organization’s plans, policies and strategies, and particularly focuses on ways to make Connecticut a better place to do business and create jobs. McMakin has worked in the food service distribution industry for more than 25 years, 17 of them with SYSCO. He joined SYSCO Food Services of Connecticut when it opened in 1995, as vice president of sales. McMakin was promoted to senior vice president of sales, then to executive vice president, and in 2006 was named president and CEO. McMakin is a member of the board of directors of the Connecticut Restaurant Association. He is a lector and active member of St. Dunstan’s Parish in Glastonbury and is involved in various local and regional charitable organizations. He previously served on the board of A Time for Life, an organization dedicated to helping children with cancer and their families. He graduated from Marquette University in 1977, with a B.S. in liberal arts.
