TD BANKNORTH PRESIDENT AND CEO ELECTED TO CBIA BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) elected John J. Patrick Jr. to a four-year term on its board of directors at its Oct. 25 Annual Meeting.

Patrick is president and CEO of TD Banknorth Connecticut, in New Britain. He is one of 14 new members elected to the CBIA board, who will begin their terms Dec. 1.

CBIA is the state’s largest business organization, with 10,000 member companies throughout Connecticut. The board of directors approves the organization’s plans, policies and strategies, and particularly focuses on ways to make Connecticut a better place to do business and create jobs.

Patrick began his banking career as a college student working nights in the processing department of Connecticut Bank & Trust. Nearly 30 years later, with extensive experience managing a broad array of banking services in Connecticut, he is at the helm of TD Banknorth Connecticut, the state’s fastest growing bank.

TD Banknorth, N.A., is the banking subsidiary of TD Banknorth Inc., a leading banking and financial services company headquartered in Portland, Maine. Prior to May 23, 2005, TD Banknorth was known in the state as Banknorth Connecticut, where Patrick had served as president and CEO beginning in 1998.

Patrick joined Glastonbury Bank & Trust Co. in 1994, as a senior loan officer, later becoming president. He was instrumental in the bank’s January 2002 name change to Banknorth Connecticut. Previously Patrick managed banking services for Connecticut Bank & Trust, BayBank, and Fleet Financial Group.

He is on the board of directors of the United Way of the Capital Region, and is the 2006 United Way Community Campaign chairman. He is also on a number of other boards, including those of the Vantis Life Insurance Co., the Greater Hartford Visitors and Convention Bureau, New Britain General Hospital, Community Mental Health Affiliates, and the Central Connecticut State University Foundation Inc.

Additionally, Patrick is president of the Connecticut Rivers Council of Boy Scouts of America, overseer of The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts and a member of the executive committee of the Connecticut Bankers Association.

Patrick graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He attended the New England College of Banking at Williams College and received a graduate degree in banking and financial services from Bentley College.

Patrick and his family live in Glastonbury.
