ATLANTIC STEEL & PROCESSING PRESIDENT ELECTED TO CBIA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) elected Joseph J. Vrabely Jr. to a four-year term on its board of directors at its Oct. 25 Annual Meeting. Vrabely is president of Atlantic Steel & Processing LLC, in Waterbury. He is one of 14 new members elected to the CBIA board, who will begin their terms Dec. 1. CBIA is the state’s largest business organization, with 10,000 member companies throughout Connecticut. The board of directors approves the organization’s plans, policies and strategies, and particularly focuses on ways to make Connecticut a better place to do business and create jobs. Vrabely started Atlantic Steel & Processing LLC in 1999. Before that, Vrabely worked for nearly two decades at Joseph T. Ryerson & Sons Inc., the largest metals distribution company in the United States. He is co-chairman of the metals cluster of the Connecticut Governor’s Competitiveness Council. He is a member of several boards and organizations, including those of the Waterville Economic Development Council and the Manufacturing Alliance of Connecticut. Vrabely was the corporate chairman of Waterbury Relay for Life, past president of the Smaller Manufacturers Association and a former member of the Waterbury Chamber of Commerce. Vrabely was awarded the “Harold Webster Smith Manufacturer of the Year Award” by the Waterbury Chamber of Commerce and the “Chairman’s Award” from the Inland Steel Industries. He has a B.S. from Indiana University.
