Prohibits requiring an additional driver from showing proof of a credit or debit card. Limits the amount that a car rental company may recover for the loss of use of a rented vehicle from a lessee to not more than one day’s rental fee for every four hours of labor required to repair the damage.

SB 186 an act establishing weight tolerance exemptions for electric commercial vehicles and concerning the registration of certain pick-up trucks

Grants electric commercial vehicles a weight tolerance exemption of 2,000 lbs from statutory weight limits. Requires the DMV commissioner to issue passenger registrations to pick-up trucks with a gross vehicle rating of eight thousand five hundred fifty pounds or less that are not used in part for commercial purposes.

SB 201 an act concerning the attorney general's recommendations regarding price disclosure, service agreements, the new home construction guaranty fund and the connecticut unfair trade practices act

Status: Awaiting Action (Judiciary Committee)

Prohibits “unfair service agreements” in real estate transactions. The bill prohibits certain service providers from entering into “unfair service agreements” with residential property owners, makes these agreements unenforceable, and makes violations of this prohibition an unfair or deceptive trade practice under CUTPA. The bill prohibits these agreements from being recorded in the land records and establishes certain legal remedies for property owners if they are recorded. It also requires service providers that previously entered into service agreements to record a new notice on the land records that meets specified requirements.

SB 202 an act concerning the department of consumer protection's recommendations regarding prescription drug control

Status: Awaiting Action (Senate)

Requires biopharma manufacturers who employ/compensate sales representatives to register annually as a “pharmaceutical marketing firm” and identify all “pharmaceutical representatives” related to the firm. Such representatives, including anyone who promotes or provides information regarding a drug, will be required to disclose the “list price” of any drug for which he/she provides information.

Permits a post-verdict collateral source reduction in damages in certain personal injury or wrongful death actions involving a right of subrogation.
