North Haven Company Recognized by SBA
According to the New Haven Register, a North Haven company that develops and manufactures components for clean and efficient power generation, emissions control and chemical manufacturers is one of 23 small businesses to receive an award from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
CBIA member Precision Combustion was selected in June as one of the winners of the SBA’s Tibbetts Award. The award recognizes small businesses and individuals who “exemplify the best” in the federal Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs.
Precision Combustion won a Small Business Innovation Research grant last October to develop and test a generator that removes bacteria or viruses from soil that cause disease in plants, as well getting rid of pests and weeds.
Precision Combustion has 80 patents and employs 33 people.
“This is a high performance team with very capable individuals and great teamwork, and I’m very pleased the work is receiving this recognition,” said Kevin Burns, Precision Combustion’s president. “The SBIR program has given us the opportunity to innovate, and we’ve been able to leverage SBIR project results … to create novel technologies and develop them forward into high value products meeting customer’s needs.
