President’s Jobs Plan to Extend Federal UI Benefits
President Obama’s American Jobs Act includes a further extension of federal emergency unemployment benefits along with several other proposals dealing with the nation’s unemployed workers.
The plan, to be considered by Congress next week, would be paid for mostly by increases in business taxes.
According to the White House, the Jobs Act includes a new $49 billion extension of federal emergency unemployment benefits.
The two-year, $447 billion plan would be paid for by ending about $467 billion of tax breaks over 10 years for oil and gas companies, hedge-fund managers and people making more than $200,000.
More details are becoming available about the president’s proposals and how they would impact Connecticut businesses.
