Behind the Business: Learning Every Day

Opportunity is what HyAxiom, Inc. production manager April-Lynn Blanchard sees when she thinks about her career so far and what’s ahead. 

After almost six years with the fuel cell manufacturer, Blanchard is amazed at what she has accomplished. 

“Five years ago if you would have asked me where I thought I would be, I didn’t foresee myself moving along this quickly, but it has been a fantastic experience and I have been really lucky to have the support that I have,” she said. 

“I am learning every day.”

Starting as a production supervisor, Blanchard later became a senior supervisor, and now oversees all shifts as production manager. 

“My favorite part of the job is really interacting with the people,” she said, adding that the camaraderie of the team and support from management keeps her going. 

Technology

The world of manufacturing and fuel cells is a long way from where Blanchard began working in warehousing. 

She said that once she toured HyAxiom’s facility, she was intrigued by the technology and has not looked back. 

“When I started getting ingrained in all of the systems here, I realized the bigger picture and it has just been really interesting,” she said.

“Seeing the amount of development and growth that this company offers, I would like to continue to grow and learn.”

With the full support of management, Blanchard has also pursued a degree in business administration at Asnuntuck Community College. 

“Seeing the amount of development and growth that this company offers, I would like to continue to grow and learn.”

And while Connecticut was not originally home, she’s now a proud homeowner.

“Connecticut offers a lot for manufacturing support, development, and growth that I didn’t see when I lived in other states.”
