“I get to be part of both R&D and production,” says HyAxiom’s Whitney Kline.

After 10 years in manufacturing, Dr. Whitney Kline was looking for an opportunity create a product with global impact.

That opportunity came at HyAxiom, Inc. where she was appointed test engineering manager a little over a year ago.

“I like getting to be a part of making the end product, seeing all of your hard work pay off in something that’s tangible,” said Kline.

Kline and her teams work on HyAxiom’s main product, a phosphoric acid fuel cell as well as its PEM electrolyzer, a product that creates hydrogen.

Research and Development

“My favorite part of my job here is that I get to be part of both R&D and production,” she said.

“So I get to work a little bit towards what we’re working for, and see what we’re working towards, and then I also get to work on the main product.”

Kline said research and development is a critical part of what they do at HyAxiom.

“The green energy field is changing every day, and we need to keep on top of that,” she said.

“So it’s very important to have a dedicated R&D group here.”

Before coming to Hyaxiom, Kline worked in the medical and aerospace fields.

She said she enjoys learning about and working with state-of-the-art technology, as well as the company’s history that goes all the way back to the Apollo space missions.

“There’s some people here that have been with the company through the whole thing,” she said. “It’s really interesting to hear their stories.”

Home and Family

Connecticut wasn’t always home for Kline. She grew up in Kansas and Georgia, but went to the University of Connecticut for her post-graduate degree.

That’s where she met her husband. The couple recently welcomed a new baby.

“I like the climate and the foliage and the general suburban feel.”

“I just got back from maternity leave a couple months ago,” she said. “The leadership was great about it.”

Now, the growing family is happy to call Connecticut home.

“We both love the state,” she said. “I like the climate and the foliage and the general suburban feel. I’ve been in the country, I’ve been in the city, and I kind of like this more in between.”
