Charter Communications Launches Free Tuition Program
Charter Communications is launching a new free tuition program for full-time employees.
The Stamford-based telecommunications company announced the Charter Education Benefit program Aug. 1.
Charter officials said the program allows the company’s more than 101,000 employees to start, continue, or complete their education and help expand their skill sets to grow their careers.
Employees will have access to more than 300 online programs and degrees from more than 30 universities and learning providers.
Tuition-Free College
Employees can pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as high school and college prep, and English language learning.
“Our employees earn competitive wages, receive high-quality and affordable benefits and now, with the new Charter Education Benefit, they can pursue a tuition-free college degree,” said Charter executive vice president and chief human resources officer Paul Marchand.
Charter will also cover expenses including books, supplies and enrollment fees.
“Creating meaningful opportunities for career mobility results in a more knowledgeable workforce, which ultimately benefits our customers as well.”
High-Growth Areas
The company is encouraging employees to pursue business-aligned programs in high-growth areas including operations management, marketing, project management and technology.
The Charter Education Benefit program is offered in partnership with career opportunity company Guild.
Guild helps employers offer their employees tuition-free education, career development, and coaching.
“Charter is spearheading what it means to unlock career opportunity in the communications industry, providing best in class programs, support and resources for their employees to learn and advance in their careers,” said Guild CEO Rachel Romer.
In 2022, Charter increased its tuition reimbursement program to $10,000 per year for employees to pursue select degrees.
