Deck the Halls with Safety Guidance

‘Tis the season of high volume in warehouse, delivery, and retail industries across the country. 

OSHA officials are reminding employers to train employees to recognize hazards and prevent injuries. 

Nine Tips 

The agency released its annual list of reminders to help keep the workplace safe. 

• Train workers on safe work practices in a language they speak and understand.
• Provide hands-on training for young and new workers on properly using equipment.
• Delivery services and warehousing workers should wear bright, visible clothing. 
• Prevent injuries by properly stacking materials and making sure workers stand clear when doors are opened for unloading. 
• Create a detailed and flexible staffing plan to help reduce workplace stress. 
• When large crowds are expected, prepare an emergency plan.
• Make sure entrance and exit signs are visible. 
• Encourage workers to report any safety and health concerns.
• Remember: Season workers have the same rights as full-time workers.
