KeyBank Awards Connecticut Foodshare $500K Grant

KeyBank is helping power direct food deliveries in two major Connecticut cities. 

The KeyBank Foundation awarded Connecticut Foodshare $500,000 over three years to support the mobile pantry program. 

Connecticut Foodshare officials said the direct service program—which has over 100 sites—is instrumental in feeding communities across the state. 

The program distributed 4.9 million pounds of food in 2022 alone. 

“Our mobile pantry program serves thousands of households per month with nutritious food including sought after items like produce,” Connecticut Foodshare president and CEO Jason Jakubowski said. 

“We are extremely grateful to our friends from KeyBank for supporting this vital resource to so many families in our state.”

Strategic Improvements

Jakubowski said the funds will support strategic improvements to make the program more consistent, dependable, accessible, and inclusive. 

KeyBank Connecticut and Western Massachusetts market president Matthew Hummel said that mission coincides with KeyBank’s commitment to supporting community organizations serving underserved populations and neighborhoods.

“Connecticut Foodshare works tirelessly to fight hunger across the state, and we are proud to support their mobile pantry program to help reach all residents who struggle with food insecurity,” Hummel said. 

Connecticut Foodshare distributed 3.1 million pounds of food monthly to an average of 12,377 households in Hartford and New Haven counties in 2022.
