What Paid Holidays Will Connecticut Employers Offer in 2024?

CBIA surveys its members each fall to find out what paid holidays they will offer employees in the coming year.

The results of the latest survey reflect responses from more than 375 Connecticut firms.

Employers were also asked if they would be giving employees time off for holidays not included in the survey.

Several employers said they give employees time off for Veterans Day. Employers also said they give employees between one and four floating holidays (7%).

New Year’s Day

  • Monday, Jan, 1: 99.9%

Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Birthday

  • Monday, Jan. 15: 23%

President’s Day

  • Monday, Feb. 19: 26%

Good Friday

  • Friday, March 29: 53%

Memorial Day

  • Monday, May 27: 97%

Juneteenth

  • Wednesday, June 19: 19% yes; 5% considering

Independence Day

  • Thursday, July 4: 57%
  • Both Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5: 40%
  • Facility, office closed for the week of July 4: 3%
  • Other: 3%

Labor Day

  • Monday, Sept. 2: 98%

Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples’ Day

  • Monday, Oct. 14: 19%

Thanksgiving

  • Thursday, Nov. 28: 99%
  • Friday, Nov. 29: 79%

Christmas

  • Wednesday, Dec. 25: 98%
  • Shutdown between Christmas and New Year’s Day: 17% 

If off between Christmas and New Year’s Day, how will employees be paid?

  • Employees are required to use PTO: 27%
  • Company paid holidays: 45%
  • Other (including combination of paid holiday and PTO): 28%
