Raytheon Technologies has announced that chief operating officer Christopher Calio will become president of the company March 1.

Calio will oversee the consolidation of company subsidiaries Raytheon Intelligence & Space and Raytheon Missiles & Defense under the Raytheon brand, scheduled for the second half of 2023.

Chair and CEO Greg Hayes told industry analysts in a Jan. 24 call that Raytheon will now have three business units: Collins Aerospace, East Hartford-based Pratt & Whitney, and Raytheon.

“Right now, it’s all about program execution and managing costs,” Hayes said.

“We have the backlog, we have the demand, and we have the technology and our balance between defense and commercial aero will help us navigate into the future.”

RIS president Roy Azevedo will retire in March, although Hayes said he will continue as an advisor to Calio, a former president of Pratt & Whitney.

Calio, who was appointed Raytheon COO in February 2022, will retain that role.
