Startups Pitch Ideas at FORGE Launch Party

A Shelton company was among six startups awarded product development grant funding at FORGE Connecticut’s pitch contest June 5. 

The contest was part of FORGE’s official launch party in Connecticut at the Trinity Innovation Center.

The nonprofit organization helps entrepreneurs grow their businesses by connecting them with product development assistance, experienced manufacturers, and supply chain resources.

“We needed to create an ecosystem that could support people through the innovation process,” Connecticut chief manufacturing officer Paul Lavoie said at the event. 

Pitch Contest

FORGE chose five startups from a pool of applicants to pitch their ideas during a two-minute presentation at the event. 

Another five companies demonstrated their products at tables. 

Among the products were ReAbility’s WorkStation multi-gym for physical therapy, rehab, and fitness, Mobabbi’s smart potty for toilet training babies, and SedMed’s Toilet Lift Assist, a self-powered toilet lift for older adults and people with disabilities. 

FORGE distributed $40,000 in non-dilutive product development grant funding to six companies. 

SedMed took home the first place prize, of $20,000. BRASH Power placed second followed by ReAbility, Ainara Design, and Mobabbi.

Ainara Design also received $1,000 for the audience choice.
